Mountain Star Ranch
Tour the Ranch
The Mountain Star Ranch is 80 acres. It over looks Tyler creek and the Siskiyou Monument. A fourteen-mile drive from Ashland, Oregon at an elevation of 3000 to 4600 feet it sits at the snow line. Cooler in the summer it is a great getaway from the valley heat. With three beautiful mountain lakes minutes away, the ranch offers many recreational opportunities. The Siskkiyu National Monument borders the southern portion of the ranch.
Currently the ranch is used as a Testing grounds for Environmental sustainable architecture and building practices with a private forest stewardship program / wildlife restoration project. The goal of this project is to achieve a sustainable balance between the owners needs for a safe comfortable dwelling and financial gain from their investment in the property while enhancing the natural resources of the site.
While these objectives are sometimes held and can be mutually exclusive in conventional planing and development. The plan has been to cluster the homes to minimize the impact of development.
The largest portion of the ranch approximately 64 acres is the Mountain Star Golden Eagle Reserve. The golden eagles can be viewed often flying over the cliffs of this area. In addition to the eagles this remarkable landscape contains many others.
